Robert Galva is an American IFBB Professional Bodybuilder. Originally from the Dominican Republic, he currently resides in America, pursuing his dream of being a professional bodybuilder. Robert enjoyed hitting the gym since his youth. Over time, he realized he greatly enjoyed weight training and trying to continuously improve his physique. His ultimate goal was to resemble the icons of the Golden Era, such as Serge Nubret and Arnold Schwarzenegger. He has completely devoted his life to be able to compete at the highest level of bodybuilding. In addition to weight training, Robert also performs cardio 3-4 times a week to maintain a low body fat percentage and stay fit. He also eats very clean during the off-season to prevent any unnecessary fat build-up.

Robert was not very fond of the modern mass monsters seen in the bodybuilding world presently. He prefers the classic bodybuilding look which was present during the Golden Era, with a tiny waist, well-developed shoulders, a barrel chest, chiselled legs and a tapered back. The traditional bodybuilding division puts too much emphasis on muscle size instead of overall aesthetics. For this reason, Robert decided to compete in the newly opened Classic Physique division and see where it would take him.
He entered his first amateur competition at the 2016 NPC New Jersey State Competitions. His physique was so much better than his competitors that he won the 1st place by a landslide. With this victory, he obtained his IFBB Pro Card. An IFBB Pro Card allows an individual to participate in competitions sanctioned by the IFBB. These shows have prize money for the winners.
In Robert’s first professional competition, to everyone’s surprise, he finished in 1st place. Winning as a rookie was a tremendous feat and made his competitors aware of his great potential. He won 3rd place at the 2016 IFBB Florida Victory Pro. Competing in the Classic Physique division had proved to be an excellent decision as seen by his results throughout the year.
At the 2017 New York Pro, he only managed to finish in 13th place. It was a harsh reminder that the professional bodybuilding world was leagues higher than the amateur level. He would need to significantly improve his physique to be able to compete with the top contenders.
He was unable to participate in the Mr. Olympia competition due to unfortunate circumstances. Due to sheer bad luck, he missed one of the most important events in his career. He can rest easy knowing that he has the capability to qualify for the Mr. Olympia again next year.
Hopefully, with a little more effort and hard work, he can improve his physique and stand a chance to finish in the top 10 at the 2018 Mr. Olympia.
